Exploring Consciousness: A Two-Day Program Coming to Miami This November and December

Something significant is happening in Miami this fall.

For the first time, the Monroe Institute's Exploring Consciousness program is being offered locally — right here in South Florida — by a Monroe Institute Certified Outreach Trainer. That trainer is me, Letty Alvarez, and I am genuinely excited to bring this work to the community I call home.

If you have been curious about consciousness exploration but were not sure where to begin — or if you have been waiting for an opportunity that did not require traveling to Virginia — this is it.

What Is the Exploring Consciousness Program?

Exploring Consciousness is the Monroe Institute's signature introductory program. It is the entry point into everything the Monroe Institute teaches — the foundation upon which all of their advanced work is built.

Over two days, participants are guided through a series of Hemi-Sync audio exercises developed by Robert Monroe. Hemi-Sync is a patented binaural beat technology that gently guides your brain into specific states of consciousness — states that are deeply restful, expansive, and unlike anything most people have experienced in ordinary waking life.

You will be introduced to the Focus level system: the structured map of consciousness states that Monroe developed over decades of research. You will experience Focus 10 (mind awake, body asleep), Focus 12 (expanded awareness), and the early stages of the inner landscape that Monroe spent his life exploring and documenting.

This is not a lecture series. It is not a meditation class in the traditional sense. It is a direct, experiential introduction to the territory of your own consciousness — guided, supported, and grounded in fifty years of research and practice.

What You Will Experience Over Two Days

The program is structured as a progression. Each session builds on the last, taking you deeper into the Focus levels as your familiarity and comfort with the process grows.

Day One begins with an orientation to the Monroe approach — the history, the science, and the practical framework you will be working within. From there, you move into your first guided Hemi-Sync sessions. Most participants experience their first genuine Focus 10 state on Day One: that remarkable condition of deep physical relaxation combined with clear, alert awareness. Many describe it as the most rested they have felt in years — achieved in under an hour.

Day Two takes you further. With the foundation of Focus 10 established, you begin exploring Focus 12 — the state of expanded awareness where the boundaries of ordinary perception begin to soften. Insights arise. A quality of inner spaciousness opens. Many participants report experiences on Day Two that they find difficult to describe but impossible to dismiss: a direct encounter with dimensions of their own awareness they did not know existed.

Throughout both days, sessions are interspersed with group sharing and discussion. You are never alone in the process. The group experience is part of what makes the program so powerful — hearing others describe their experiences often helps you recognize and trust your own.

Who Is a Good Fit for This Program?

Exploring Consciousness is designed for people who have no prior experience with Monroe Institute programs or Hemi-Sync. You do not need a meditation practice. You do not need any particular spiritual background or belief system. You need only curiosity and a genuine willingness to explore.

That said, certain people tend to find this work especially resonant:

You feel like there is more to your inner life than you have yet discovered. You have a sense — perhaps vague, perhaps persistent — that your awareness extends further than ordinary daily life allows you to experience. You want to find out what that means.

You are dealing with stress, burnout, or a sense of being disconnected from yourself. The deep rest that comes with Focus 10 alone is genuinely restorative in ways that sleep and ordinary relaxation often are not. Many participants come for the rest and stay for everything else.

You are navigating a significant life transition. Loss, change, uncertainty — these are moments when the deeper questions of human existence become impossible to ignore. Consciousness exploration offers a way to meet those questions directly, rather than simply enduring them.

You are intellectually curious about the nature of mind and awareness. The Monroe approach is grounded in research, not belief. If you are the kind of person who wants to understand how consciousness works — not just read about it but actually investigate it from the inside — this program was designed for you.

You have read Robert Monroe's books or are familiar with the Monroe Institute's work and want to experience it firsthand rather than just intellectually. The difference between reading about Focus 10 and actually being in Focus 10 is the difference between reading about swimming and getting in the water.

Why This Program, Why Now, Why Miami

The Monroe Institute has been running residential programs at their campus in Faber, Virginia since 1973. Their work is extraordinary — but traveling to Virginia is not accessible for everyone.

The Outreach Trainer program exists to change that. Certified trainers bring the Monroe curriculum directly to their communities, making this work available to people who might never make it to Virginia.

I completed my Monroe Institute Outreach Trainer certification because I believe this work is too important to remain inaccessible. South Florida has a remarkable community of people who are ready for it — people who are curious, open, and hungry for something more substantive than what the mainstream wellness world typically offers.

Bringing Exploring Consciousness to Miami is not just a professional milestone for me. It is a personal one. This work changed my life. I want to offer that possibility to the people around me.

Upcoming Exploring Consciousness Dates in Miami

I am offering two Exploring Consciousness workshops before the end of 2026:

November 14–15, 2026 Two days, Miami, Florida. Small group — maximum 12 participants. Early Bird pricing available through October 31.

December 12–13, 2026 Two days, Miami, Florida. Small group — maximum 12 participants. Early Bird pricing available through November 21.

Both workshops are identical in content. The small group format is intentional — it allows for the kind of depth, personal attention, and genuine community that larger events cannot provide.

What to Expect Practically

The workshop runs both days from morning through late afternoon, with breaks for lunch and integration time between sessions. You will spend most of each day lying comfortably on a mat or recliner with headphones on, moving through guided audio exercises. The environment is quiet, supportive, and carefully held.

You do not need to bring anything special. Comfortable clothing is recommended. An open mind is required.

Seats are limited to 12 participants per workshop. This is not a marketing constraint — it is a practical one. The depth of the work requires a small, contained group.

Reserve Your Place

Early Bird pricing is available now for both November and December workshops. When Early Bird seats are gone, remaining seats are available at the standard rate.

If you have questions about whether this program is right for you, I am happy to talk. You can reach me directly through the contact form on this site.

If you are ready to reserve your place, you can do so on the Workshop Dates page.

I hope to see you there.
